Leveraging technology to support instructional practices will be a project priority when working with both teachers and administrators. Teachers will explore Micro-Credentials from KEDC in educational development learning while increasing their knowledge in American History, Civics, Government, and Geography. Historians and university professors, along with experienced content specialists, will provide in-depth historical knowledge in exploring American Democracy Themes that align with chronological periods: Creating and Defining a Nation (1619-1783), Preservation and Redefining a Nation (1784-1877), and Industrialization and Civic Evolution (1878-1917). A renewal of two additional years may be granted to KEDC, and if funded, those two years would include a focus on World Wars and Growth of Executive Power (1918-1953) and Civil Rights and the Growth of Judiciary Power (1954-Current). Project CHARGE will receive innovative opportunities through an online interactive interface providing access to high-quality accessible digital tools, assessments, and online learning communities. Through Historical Field Institutes, teachers will visit historical locations and interact with University Historians who will lead rich and relevant discussions. Through these Institutes, teachers will increase their knowledge base of relevant times and deeds as well as their collection of strategies, enhancing their content specific skills and expanding topics for use in their classrooms.
